It depends on the uses you'll be contemplating as to what best suits your needs and a lot will depend on garage conversions cost. If you're converting to more living space consider underfloor heating prior to your garage floors being installed. Electric underfloor heating is an easy option as this doesn't change the level too much and will then take all types of floors afterwards. Also a good option if walls are being built at a later date. If the garage will be used as a playroom, study or remain as a garage then tiles could be the best solution. Take a look at the long term uses before committing, as a change could mean a total rethink on the flooring used. Short term options are paint, removable mats or soft flooring such as carpets and rugs.
