Wet Room Shower installation guide for your home

Designs and construction of a wet room shower, needs to have the right ingredients just like a good recipe, not enough of one thing and it all goes to pot.

Both the walls and floors need to 'contained' meaning that no water should be allowed to permeate through the tanking that provides the base to your tile flooring in your wet room construction.

As you will need to start with the wet room floor, setting your base to the shower is very important, allowing for all water to be contained and directed to the trap or outlet. Some are made to go with a shower base and others are fitted independently.

If the floor is above ground floor level the installation might require a disconnecting liner to prevent the floor 'cracking' or the floor moving in any way. This will also be part of the waterproofing process.

As you move further up the process, bathroom tanking will need to be applied, again to prevent any ingress of water behind the wet room tiles.

All wet rooms and shower enclosures particularly without a shower tray need to be layered. Each layer preventing water travelling past it's seal but containing it and directing it towards a suitable outlet.

Most tile ranges can be used but make some enquiries as to which suit YOUR particular wet room shower design.
