Patios, paving and outdoor spaces

Patios and paving cost can vary for outdoor areas and can range from all types of natural stone which comes in a huge range of different finishes from interlocking paving systems to manufactured slabs to natural stone supplied for every conceivable paving design.

If you decide to buy paving in large sizes, these can be a lot more attractive and very often they're easier to lay than multiples of small paving.
Laying paving stones using natural products will mean that the slabs will have to be at least 30mm thick to take constant use and laid correctly will outlast a concrete paver and continue to improve the older it gets.

When you look at the cost per square metre/yard of manufactured slabs there isn't a great deal of difference in cost to natural stone which will last longer and the colour is totally 'natural'.

Paving from Mandarin Stone covers a good selection and there are also numerous retailers around the net such as eBay and other sellers of both natural and manufactured slabs.

Look out for reclaimed and used products for patios as these 'dated' finishes are impossible to replicate and in a lot of instances will reduce the cost of the paving stone prices.

Finding a suitable style depends on where and how you're going to use your outdoor space, the cost and the availability.

Depending on what you want to spend there are endless options from block paving suppliers and merchants and don't need to be restricted to the traditional stone, slate, terra cotta and manufactured products but can be mixed with wood, gravel and glass to create an individual design.

My favourite has to be the Meditteranean style patios.
