Outdoor Tiling
Outdoor tiling now comes in an abundance of designs and textures that can be used for patio's, pathways, balconies and verandas, all of which are frost proof and come under the classification of 'external tiles'. These are durable in even the most extreme conditions, are attractive and colourful and will remain in good condition for many years.
What used to be dominated by paving, although now produced in most colours and designs, have been overtaken by outdoor tiles in an array patterns and designs that are as attractive as any indoor stone and tile ranges.
Quarry tiles used to be the only option for many older floors, that needed to be frost proof and durable but remarkably are still used extensively, where they need to be resilient to wear, resistant to most chemicals, foot traffic and even animal proof for stables and dairy farms. These have advanced all round in size, colour, textures and patterns to rival most other external tiles on the market.
Porcelain is by far the most popular because of it's strong clay quality and are produced in virtually every colour imaginable from small to sizes up to 600 x 600mm and beyond, so choice is plentiful.
Other patterns available are Victorian and Edwardian tiles that are so near the original designs that it's hard to tell between the old and their amazing copies. Most are on a web backing that make life easier to fit than placing together the many thousands of individual tiles that would have made up an authentic pattern.

The preparation and adhesives used outdoors make this more complex than indoor tiling and should be carried out by tilers with experience and knowledge of external fitting.
