Natural Stone
Natural Stone covers a wide range of flooring including travertine, marble, limestone and slate to name but a few, all of which are ideally suited to underfloor heating.
The use of natural stone dates back many thousands of years and was used extensively by the Greeks and Romans, much of which has lasted to modern day. Stone more than most products looks better with wear and matures with age making it look richer as time goes on. Natural stone costs no more than other types of flooring and its value far exceeds that of other alternatives. Although not

ourselves, we use the services of many suppliers where we can source some excellent examples, one of those beings Core and Ore of Bristol and if you want to visit and spend some time around the 'chic' upmarket Clifton Village area of Bristol, you'll be spoiled for choice and well looked after in their superb showroom.
Another of our suppliers Mandarin Stone hold an extensive stock of various types of natural wall and floor stone products.
Here's an overview of different natural stone flooring types.(*)
BASALT- A hard and dense, fine grained volcanic rock which is usually grey in colour.
GRANITE- A hard igneous rock where colours can be intense and often varied.
LIMESTONE- This sedimentary rock geologically formed by consolidation of sea shells. This calcareous stone is usually light in colour with delicate shell and mineral mottling. Darker varieties are less prolific.
MARBLE- A metamorphic rock historically used in ancient buildings by the Greeks and Romans. Marble encompasses a vast spectrum of colours from white to black, with mineral veining generally contrasting to the base stone colour.
SANDSTONE- A coarse-grained sedimentary rock formed by compressed sand deposited by water or wind. It is commonly characterised by a granular surface.
SCHIST- A dense metamorphic rock that offers considerable shade variations ranging from light pearl grey to dark gold.
SLATE- A fine grained metamorphic rock that characteristically splits into broad sheets. A durable stone, which offers a diverse range of colours and textures.
Slate flooring has to be one of the most attractive of the 'natural' flooring products, normally grey and riven in texture.
There are many types of natural flooring available, all of which we are able to supply.
Different textures and a range of sizes make this flooring one of
the favourites of all the natural stone floor finishes.
We are able to supply and fit the flooring of your choice and welcome your enquiries regarding this amazing product.
"This product is one that you either love or you hate and there seems to be no in between.
We've laid some beautiful slate floors some 'with' underfloor heating and some without. Obviously the slate floors 'with' can be enjoyed 24/7, however ALL slate flooring has a charm of it's own.
Some of the Welsh slate we've laid has been around for 4 million years. I doubt it'll last that long in your house but your granchildren'll be old and grey before it wears out!"
Investing in natural stone flooring for internal work or maybe for patios represents extremely good value for money and laid correctly will last literally for generations.
We are able to provide and fit any stone type and can arrange for brochures and samples to be sent to you free of charge from any of our natural stone suppliers.
Mike says
"Out of all the materials we use, natural stone flooring is probably the most difficult but also the most pleasing to work with.
The finished job ALWAYS looks great and what's more it's timeless.
There's so much you can do with natural stone that you can't do with other types of flooring irrespective of cost.
What's more the cost of natural stone is probably no more than other flooring and very often less.
The suppliers we use operate local to us but have depots nationwide as do a lot of flooring outlets that we can recommend.
There's more choice out there than you'd expect."
