We clean and restore all types of flooring domestic, commercial and industrial from the smallest of rooms to the largest of floors with the same commitment to all.

Also with our grout cleaning we are quite specific on the standards we work towards and continue with our deep cleaning until we are satisfied that the maximum amount of soiling has been removed from every single tile or stone.

Preparation

Before commencing work, all areas are covered to protect the initial surroundings and ensure that property is also well protected at all times. Whether we are polishing marble, cleaning travertine or sealing a slate floor, the preparation is of prime importance to us, as it is to our customers.

By using protective dust sheets and polythene covers we are able to ensure that we leave premises exactly as we arrived, albeit with a fully restored floor that is honed, sealed and polished to bring out all the natural and original features.

Floor Cleaning

There are numerous ways in which we approach each contract depending on the type of surface and its environment. Every floor is tested prior to cleaning so that we use the most effective method of floor cleaning and restoration possible. This could be cleaning large areas with degreasers or chemicals, using an orbital rotating machine when we are polishing marble, or cleaning Victorian and encaustic tiles the old fashioned way, by hand.

Every floor type and the condition of the surface is different, so the floor cleaning and restoration would change accordingly. Some of the harder floor surfaces such as granite, concrete and marble requires a different approach to the softer stone floors such as terracotta, sandstone and travertine.

A certain amount of scratches can be taken out by polishing floors it they're not too deep, other times we are able to repair floors to blend in with the original floor pattern giving a seamless repair. When we clean and restore old Victorian floorsand find that there are tiles broken or missing we are able to source replacement Victorian tiles which replicate the original tiles perfectly.

Aftercare

The aftercare treatments or sealants come in two forms, either they are a topical sealer which is applied to the floor surface or a penetrating sealant.

The topical sealer for inside usually an acrylic, is one which gives a satin or gloss patina and in domestic or light commercial situations is both attractive and durable. This type of floor finish when cleaned and maintained, can last a few years but will need to be 'topped up' from time to time.

A similar product is wax commonly applied to Terra Cotta to give a nice glow or sheen that is traditional for this type of stone.

A penetrating sealant, although not giving the satin or gloss finish will 'lock in' the colour of stone accentuating by an enhanced sealer to darken or give a 'wet look' or a natural finish. The sealants that penetrate the surface are harder to wear off as they are below the surface and not prone to too much wear.

Specific cleaning solutions should be used on either type of sealant to prolong the life and maintain the rich looking finish.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance should be given to any floor, either tile or stone and specific cleaners and care products are available from ourselves or our recommended suppliers.
